Fix Your Front Squat

The front squat is an awesome exercise to load the front side of the body, namely the quads and anterior core. In order to promote activation through the anterior chain we must maintain an upright torso throughout the movement pattern. If you can get to a low enough position without heel elevation then great, however this can be a challenge for many.

An easy workaround is to apply the correct heel elevation height that's right for you or your client. Once elevated just cue "stay upright" and "open the hips" as you descend, this will allow you to maintain a tall posture and hit the quads and core musculature without pushing the hips back to compensate with the posterior chain.

Once ankle and hip mobility improves we can reduce the height of the heel elevation!
